The subdelegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, inaugurated today the days organized by the Network of Techniques and Technicians of Labor Insertion of Lugo on the occasion of the celebration of Social Justice Day. This year, the main theme was labor trafficking and exploitation, where the subdelegate together with the councilor for Economic Dynamization, Mauricio Repetto, and the councilor for Social Welfare and Senior Citizens, Olga L. Racamonde, they were in charge of making the opening.
At the beginning of the event, the subdelegate stressed the need for all social, political and economic fields to “promote decent work through the creation of a fair agenda that is based on fundamental rights, opportunities, social protection and social dialogue.”
Isabel Rodríguez cited Article 45 of the Constitution to remember that “the right to work is included in the framework of our Welfare State, a consolidated pact around access to health, education and with a view to guaranteeing improvements in the labor field.” He argued in this regard for the importance of defending decent work as the basis of equal opportunities and social justice for all people.
In the celebration of this day, the subdelegate stressed that “it was hard work to consolidate the guiding principles of our economic and social system to meet the demands of society”, but also stressed that “there is still much to do to mitigate inequality and poverty and bet on broader social protection”.
He recalled that the Government activated measures such as the Minimum Vital Income with the aim of improving and achieving the social and labor inclusion of more than 10,000 people in the province of Lugo. He also mentioned the revaluation of pensions, “a fair and necessary increase”.
Finally, the subdelegate spoke about the great challenges and transformations that remain to be faced, such as ensuring the creation of fair and quality employment, labor conciliation, or the fight against climate change. At the end of his speech, he stressed that “equality and social justice are the true keys to democracy.”
