The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, approached today to the Port of A Coruña, to make a visit to the fishing cooperation and training vessel Intermares, in which, throughout this week, the first training courses of the year 2024 are taught, promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food for students of different specialties.
The subdelegate wanted to value the retaking of the activities in the province of A Coruña since “it offers students of the training cycles an opportunity to learn from the hand of great professionals different knowledge and practices related to the fishing sector and thus develop their skills and their potential”.
Under the motto ‘Training to Move Forward’, the vessel Intermares offers six courses related to various areas of training in the nautico-fishing field which will be attended by about 60 students of different modalities at the Institute of Training Cycles and Basic Professional Training Universidad Trabajo de Culleredo. “It is essential to attract young people to this type of action whose objective is to train future and future professionals to ensure good management of resources in the fishing field and thus promote an optimal and sustainable development of the activity,” said Rivas.
In this regard, the subdelegate stressed that the students will have the opportunity to train in a ship with first-class equipment, which is a reference in this training model, and that it is also “a bet to bring young people closer to the possibilities of accessing a very professionalized world in better conditions” and thus also help the generational relay.
María Rivas stressed that “the ship also represents a commitment to collaboration between two ministries, since its use for this training purpose stems from an agreement between the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to take advantage of both the facilities and the first level equipment with which it is equipped”.
The courses offered this year by the Ministry of Agriculture are the following:
• Handling and Conservation of Fishery Products, with a duration of 32 h.
• Survival at sea, of 32 h.
• Electrotechnics and Automation, 32 hours
• Good Cleaning and Maintenance Practices of Facilities on board
• Fishing Arts and Fishing Technology, which will have a morning and an afternoon course, lasting 20 hours each
The Ship
