Ourense, January 17, 2024.- The subdelegate transferred the new regulations to speed up the permits in the rural concellos that will facilitate the bureaucratic procedures and permits, especially for the small concellos, so that the deployment of the fiber reaches 100 percent of the inhabitants of Ourense and that the Single Plan, which is an initiative of the Secretary of State of Telecommunications, is executed effectively in the shortest possible time. The new regulations that can be applied by all municipalities indicate that the Public Administrations can establish, each within the exclusive scope of their competences and for all or some of the cases, that the treatment is carried out only by means of responsible declaration or prior communication.
The Subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Emilio González, traveled this morning to the Concello de Xinzo de Limia. There he held a collaborative meeting with the mayors of the Comarca da Limia, to show the maximum interinstitutional collaboration in this sense facilitating the knowledge of a program that will improve the connectivity and quality of life of the citizens and will know and meet the demands of the City Councils. The head of telecommunications inspections of the province, Enrique Sanmartín, was also present at the meeting.
Emilio González put the Comarca da Limia as an example of the government’s commitment to small municipalities, "which are called to be protagonists of the transformation of Spain towards a green, digital, sustainable and cohesive country, to achieve the objectives of the demographic challenge."
The Subdelegate encouraged the municipalities to actively participate in this fiber deployment and to apply for the courses that SETELECO is organizing and teaching with the collaboration of TRAGSA, called “Deployment of networks and telecommunications facilities” aimed at EELL technicians.
UNICO Plan Rural Demand
The Subdelegate of the Government highlighted the call for the Single Rural Demand Plan that will improve coverage in remote and rural areas where there is currently no fiber connection, "influencing democratization and breaking the digital divide." It will facilitate the universalization of ultra-fast broadband access and 5G extension throughout Spain.
This program is possible thanks to the satellite technology awarded to Hispasat by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and which will allow access to high speed in remote territories. Emilio González pointed out that this is "very good news for a province with a territorial and mountainous extension such as Ourense".
The subdelegate highlights that achieving broadband coverage for 100 percent of the population is one of the objectives of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan and the Digital Spain Agenda 2026.
