The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, presided today the meeting of the Autonomous Commission of the Plan of Coexistence and Improvement of School Security in which the results of the first quarter of this academic year were analyzed.
Pedro Blanco highlighted that in this first quarter 3 out of 4 educational centers in Galicia participated in this program, which means that 770 schools and institutes in Galicia hosted activities in this first three months of the course. The specialized teams of the National Police and the Civil Guard carried out 1,206 training and prevention activities in this centre. More than 37,000 members of the educational community participated, of whom 33,500 were students, as well as teachers, management teams, parents and guardians.
The government delegate explained that in this first academic quarter half of the talks addressed cybersecurity, especially the protection of children in social networks, and school bullying. Also increase the requests in activities related to addictions, including substances, games and technology. The delegate stressed that these topics are “a map of the concerns of the educational community of Galicia”.
Pedro Blanco recalled that this year the Ministry of the Interior renewed the objectives of the Master Plan to adapt them to the new realities of the schools and to the concerns that are detected in the school communities every year. Thus, priority is being given to the incorporation of families and guardians of minors, as well as to collaboration with municipalities.
Vigilance
The School Coexistence Plan also provides for the active surveillance of schools by security forces and bodies. Pedro Blanco reported that in this first quarter more than 4,000 vigilances were carried out in schools and institutes. As a result of this activity, the National Police and the Civil Guard deactivated three drug outlets, one in A Coruña and two in Lugo.

The Director of Education of the Government Delegation in Galicia, Xosé Lois García Carballido, @o xeneral head of the Civil Guard in Galicia and the Superior Chief of Police, those responsible for the Government’s Units against Violence against Women, the Deputy Director General of Educational Planning of the Xunta and the Secretary General of the Government Delegation, among other attendees, also participated in today’s meeting.
The delegate stressed that these meetings are also a recognition of the specialized teams of the Civil Guard and the National Police in the four provinces, as well as the educational inspection of the Xunta, the personnel of the Inspection area of the Government Delegation, the subdelegations and the schools.
