The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, traveled today to Santiago de Compostela to participate in the opening act of the 4th edition of the Rogelia Mariña Awards, which are named after the trade unionist of the UGT who fought for the rights of workers and for the defense of gender equality in the company in which she worked, Sargadelos.
The assistant delegate conveyed her congratulations to the honoree, Marcial Mouzo, and took the opportunity to highlight her professional career on the radio which, with programs such as ‘Thinking of You’, helped create “a space of encounter, dialogue and solidarity for thousands of listeners for twelve years”. “Marcial, he was able to transmit with his voice and sensitivity the values of tolerance, diversity and coexistence, as well as love for his land,” said Rivas.
María Rivas took the opportunity to remember that in the year 2023, Spain showed the greatest growth in the labor market in decades and an indefinite hiring 5 points higher than that of the year 2022. In addition, the subdelegate stressed that the data reflect the highest number of women incorporated into the labor market in the country’s history, with 9,878,200 women employed in the third quarter of this year.
The subdelegate pointed out that raising the Minimum Interprofessional Wage or improving child benefits, raising pensions, or improving unemployment benefits are measures of a government that “knows that there is no better tool to fight inequality and the gender gap than improving the labour market.”
The General Secretary of the UGT in Galicia, José Antonio Gómez, also participated in the event.
