The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, announced the construction of a new roundabout in the N-651 as it passes through Paderne with which a black point on this road will be eliminated and will respond to an old demand of the people users of this road. He did it in the course of a visit to the city of Coruñés in which he reviewed with his mayor, Sergio Platas, the investments of the Government in the locality.
“This is another example of the commitment of this Government to the maintenance and improvement of the infrastructures in Galicia and, although it is a small work, it will be very important for the people who use this road and, above all, for the improvement of the safety of this road,” said the delegate.
In particular, he explained that this new roundabout will increase safety at an intersection where several accidents have been recorded in recent years and condition the existing bus stop in the area. The works, which do not exceed 200,000 euros, will be financed from the contract for the conservation and exploitation of state roads in the province of A Coruña, approved at the Council of Ministers on November 22 and with an estimated value of 25.6 million euros.
Not long after the meeting, the councilor of Paderne, Sergio Platas, transferred to Pedro Blanco the need to act also in another black point existing at the intersection of the N-651 and the AC-154 road, in the vicinity of the Pedrido bridge. However, the complexity of this work requires another type of processing.
"Our commitment is to work to build a better Paderne and that requires dialogue with all administrations. We appreciate the Central Government’s interest in fixing these dangerous traffic points. It is great news that Paderne will receive a good investment to fix these problems that come so far," said the mayor.
For his part, the delegate undertook to transfer this request to the Ministry of Transport so that it can begin the bidding process in the next year. He also recalled that this year the Government allocates in Galicia 165.3 million euros to the contracts of conservation of roads of the state network. They are contracts that affect more than a thousand kilometers of roads (1,017) of the four provinces, 338 of them of highways, and have a duration of 3 years, with the possibility of extension for another 2 years, plus an additional extension of 9 months. These contracts include actions such as accident monitoring and care, winter roadway, tunnel control and communications or maintenance of facilities, among others.
On his visit to Paderne, the delegate also took the opportunity to sign in the City Council’s golden book and review the state of the Government’s investments in the locality, which benefits from initiatives such as the Tourist Sustainability Plan ‘Reserva de las Mariñas y Terras del Mandeo’, which received 1.5 million euros from the Ministry of Industry from the funds of the Recovery Plan, or the UNICO Broadband Program, which allowed to bring high-speed internet to half a hundred companies and businesses that previously did not have this service.
