Ourense, November 24, 2023.- The Subdelegation of the Government in Ourense commemorated today the celebration of the XXV International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women with an institutional act open to all the neighbors of Ourense at the entrance of the subdelegation.
During his speech, the deputy of the Government pointed out that there are many advances that have been made from all areas to reach the cry of "Se acabó" that resonates in our cities and that has pushed women throughout this year. In addition, he highlighted the actions carried out by the Government in the field of effective equality, since 2018 such as the approval of urgent measures for the Viogen State Pact that allowed the devolution of competences to municipalities and direct psychological care to the sons and daughters of the victims; urgent measures to guarantee equal treatment and opportunities between women and men in employment and occupation; equal pay between men and women. Recognition and thanks to the Meninas 2023 awards in the province of Ourense
Emilio González thanked the work done by the CIMM staff in the province, social workers, educators and psychologists and their involvement in such a sensitive issue and with so much awareness necessary in these particular moments.

The Viogen unit of the subdelegation of the Government of Ourense, also recognized with a NIÑA by the Ministry of Equality for its intense and important work in the fight for the eradication of male violence and without which, all the training and preventive activities carried out during this month and throughout the year.

At the event, a manifesto was read by the head of the Viogen unit, Alida Iglesias, in which she recalled the 52 victims killed by their partners or ex-partners throughout 2023 and in which she thanked the efforts of millions of women who, for decades, from different organizations and institutions, have contributed to making our country a benchmark in the fight against male violence.
The head of Viogen insisted that no partisan interest should be above the fight against a violence that every day adds pain and injustice and that shames us as a society.
"We cannot allow ideological or political barriers to stop a common struggle against sexist violence."
