The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, traveled this morning to the City of ICT, to participate in the inauguration of the new facilities of the Technological Institute of Galicia (ITG).
This new facility will house an advanced Artificial Intelligence laboratory applied to drones, which aims to turn the province of A Coruña into a reference for the testing of unmanned aerial systems. It will also have outdoor facilities such as a large drone cage and a spillway for drone flight tests.
In these new infrastructures, service will be provided to companies that need to experiment and test air mobility systems, both in the research and R&D phase, and at the time of certification.
In her speech, María Rivas wanted to stress that “companies know that they can count on the Government”, which is being a great driver of the commitment to innovation and that “it is going to make A Coruña the capital of Artificial Intelligence”, in this sense she recalled that the city is ready to start in the coming months the activity of the State Agency for Supervision of Artificial Intelligence: the AESIA; which is a commitment of the Government, for Galicia, for Research and for the decentralization of the administration.
The Subdelegate indicated that “with its new facilities in this ICT City it will make possible that sooner rather than later more unmanned aerial vehicles, what we know as drones, will begin to gain presence in the skies of our cities.”
Artificial Intelligence is a bet for the future, which thanks to the work of innovation centers such as the Technological Institute of Galicia we can already see as a reality today.
The facilities in the City of ICT, whose first building was inaugurated just a few months ago, was the confirmation of the success of a joint effort between administrations. Este segundo edificio acerca un punto más de innovación a un espacio llamado a ser un referente nacional e internacional.
María Rivas stressed that this “Galaxy Lab transports them to another dimension. A more digital, better communicated, more sustainable and more inclusive Coruña”, in addition to highlighting that, with these projects, the Government also thinks about SMEs and the self-employed in their transition to the digital world. Thus, he recalled that in that objective “ITG and the Government go hand in hand through the Office Acelera Sme, where they can know the possibilities offered by disruptive technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data or Blockchain.”
