The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, participated today in the opening act of the XVI Meeting of Palilleras, organized by the association Las Nemanquiñas and taking place in the city of Vimianzo.
In her speech María Rivas wanted to greet all the women who gathered in Vimianzo in “around the art of palillar” and congratulated the organization for making this new edition possible, ensuring that in the coming years this meeting will continue to grow.
He also recognized the work of all the participants, and the entities present, and highlighted “that tradition that the women of this land have been putting into value years and decades and that you also transfer to the little ones, to the boys and girls” making in this way that it can endure over time and pass from generation to generation.
Finally, he wanted to highlight the importance of valuing our culture through this centuries-old tradition, which is also a source of wealth capable of mobilizing important economic resources, of improving the economy of the people and the areas where these precious creations are carried out.
Thus, the Subdelegate of the government in A Coruña, highlighted the knowledge, tradition, culture and work done at hand, in a patient and delicate way, which makes the palilleras ambassadors of the handicrafts, culture, and tradition of Galicia.
In this XVI meeting, more than 650 palilleras from Camariñas, Viveiro, San Cibrán, Burela, Sarria, Lugo, Vigo, Cambados, Bueu, Vilanova de Arousa, Tui, O Porriño, Ribeira Had taken out, A Coruña, Boiro, Valga, Ferrol, Fene, Neda, Ames, Betanzos, Cambre, Paderne, Arteixo, Coirós, Nooleia, Porto, Sines, Wineries, Wineries, Wineries, Wineries and Wineries were gathered.
The mayor of Vimianzo, Mónica Rodríguez, also spoke at the event; and the mayor of Camariñas, Sandra Insua, also attended.
