The subdelegate of the Government in Lugo signed today the protocol of the Winter Road Plan for the province of Lugo with which it seeks to increase safety on the roads in the face of adverse weather conditions. The deputy delegate was accompanied at the signing ceremony by the head of Civil Protection of the Subdelegation, Juan Jesús Yáñez; the provincial traffic chief, Ángel Álvarez; the provincial head of the Roads Unit, Beatriz González; the lieutenant colonel of the Civil Guard, Julio González and the head of the traffic subsector of the Civil Guard in Lugo, José Miguel Martínez.
Isabel Rodríguez stressed the importance of the operation to guarantee traffic on the State’s roads, highlighting “the collaboration of the different services and units of the Administration and the involvement of all personnel who work to provide security to users and facilitate the greatest possible comfort and fluidity of traffic in the network of roads and highways.” The deputy delegate also appealed “to the responsibility of drivers to drive prudently and carry out vehicle maintenance actions.”
With this plan, Isabel Rodríguez reported on the measures addressed by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda with the contribution of 45 snowploughs and the more than 7,000 tons of salt that will be used. Along with this, the media is complemented by the #put# at the disposal of the 2,510,000 liters of brine to help combat the snow. This operation also includes the monitoring and cleaning of the 13 roads that make up the State Road Network in the province.
Rodríguez said that “another year, the subdelegation is committed to road safety by signing this protocol with the objective of improving the connections of the province and avoiding possible cuts or problems, focusing on prevention in the face of possible contingencies and determining agile and effective solutions.”
This year, like the previous one, it establishes a device to increase security in the Pedrafita area due to the increase in traffic on this route. The Government will maintain the reinforcement of the 3 snowploughs, as well as the usual means of the Pedrafita Conservation Center.
