The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, traveled to the Sports Pavilion of the CEIP Santa Baia de Boiro to present the media exhibition of the Civil Guard, framed within the Master Plan for the Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and their Environments. This exhibition also aimed to collect non-perishable foods as well as grooming supplies for people in situations of poverty and vulnerability. In the development of this solidarity exhibition, the Deputy Delegate of the Government was accompanied by the Mayor of Boiro, José Ramón Romero García, by the Director of Education of the Delegation of the Government, Lois García Carballido and by the Lieutenant Colonel Chief of Operations of the Command of the Civil Guard of A Coruña, Jorge Bodelón Habas.
The activities took place in the morning and afternoon, with demonstrations at 11:00, 12:30 and 16:30 in which the GREIM (Special Rescue Group for Mountain Intervention); the GEDEX Service (Explosives Deactivation Service); and the USECIC (Citizen Security Unit) of the Command participated.
During the demonstrations, the agents carried out several simulations of rescues in the high mountains, arrests of dangerous people or removal of explosive devices with the Miura Robot.
The 12 units present were: Air Service; GEDEX (Explosives Deactivation Service); USECIC (Citizen Security Unit); GEAS (Group of Specialists in Underwater Activities); Cynological Service; Seprona (Nature Protection Service); Fiscal and Border Service; Traffic Sector Galicia; GREIM (Special Rescue Group for Mountain Intervention); Citizen Security; Judicial Police and the OPC (Peripheral Communication Office).
The deputy delegate of the Government, María Rivas, wanted to highlight the “importance of children of school age being able to get closer to know the different units of the Civil Guard, as well as the protocols of action against different crimes”. Not in vain, these activities are framed within the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and in their Environments, a plan of the Ministry of Interior that has already turned 15 years to help prevent security and coexistence problems that may affect the younger population and that this course is reinforced with workshops and training activities on protection and prevention of the risks associated with new technologies, focusing on these new ways to exercise violence such as social networks and other digital services. In addition to these activities, the centers can also host training actions on bullying, violence against women, drugs, alcohol, other addictions such as games or video games, nature protection, hate crimes and discrimination, road safety or prevention of sexual crimes.
In this regard, María Rivas pointed out that “the School Coexistence Master Plan is a good tool to work on prevention and awareness and strengthen confidence in the Security Forces and Corps”. In fact, the Government Delegation in Galicia already has 900 requests from educational centers throughout Galicia to participate in the talks and training activities offered by this plan.
The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña also wanted to highlight the solidarity nature of this exhibition so that in the present call more than 600 kgs of food and a large number of personal hygiene supplies were collected, which will be destined for people and families in the region in a situation of vulnerability through Caritas Boiro.
The activity was attended by more than 750 students from different educational centers: CEIP Rosalía de Castro, EEI de Arrenten, EEI de la Esclavitud, EEI de Extramundi de Arriba, EEI Pontecesures; de Porto do Son, CEIP de Niebla; de Boiro: CEIP Santa María de Castro, CEIP Escarabote and the CEIP Santa Baia whose sports hall housed the exhibition.
