The delegate of the Government in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, today put the Concello de Miño as an example of the commitment that the Government of Pedro Sánchez is showing with the municipalism, which materializes in investments that reach each and every one of the Galician concellos and also in measures such as the one that comes from the Ministry of Finance and Public Function to reduce the debt burden that the Concello de Miño drags for the expropriations of the urbanization of the extinct Fadesa in the town.
Second, the delegate explained after a meeting with the mayor of Miño, Manuel Vázquez Faraldo, who was also attended by the subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, the Government comes from extending the term of payment of the debt of the Concello until 2050 (the previous one expired in 2043), which in practice will allow to reduce by half the amount of annuities and provide greater liquidity to the Concello for expenses and investments that benefit the citizens.
“We are talking about giving liquidity to the concellos while others freeze the funds they need to provide public services that in many cases do not even correspond to them”, defended the delegate, who took the opportunity to remember that “this Government is on the side of the neighbors and local governments, with money such as those of the Recovery Plan that reach each and every one of the Galician municipalities”. “In that line, in order to improve public services and the quality of life of the population, we are going to continue working,” he concluded.
This extension is in addition to that of the year 2020, in which the Government had authorized the extension of the payment of that debt in 10 years. The following year, the Government further extended this deadline. At that time, it allowed the Concello, which had benefited from a five-year extension in the period of payment of its debt, and in addition, by merging the two credits that it had in force, the Ministry of Finance granted it another two years of absence, which meant de facto extending the repayment period to seven years (year 2043).
With these measures, the City Council went from paying 1.7 million annually to amortize the credits to paying 900,000 euros, which represented a saving of 800,000 euros per year and a considerable financial relief for the Concello.
Now, the new conditions will allow, from one band to delay from June to December the payment corresponding to 2023 and the successive ones and, on the other, to reduce the annuities by half, below 500,000 euros.
