The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, and the mayor of Arteixo, Carlos Calvelo, agreed today to continue promoting coordination between the Civil Guard and the Local Police to continue advancing in the security of Arteixo.
In this regard, it was agreed to resume the monthly technical coordination meetings between the Local Police and the Civil Guard and thus be able to make a joint planning of the devices and actions to be carried out in the municipality.
The objective is to continue working together to improve citizen security and give an ideal response to the neighborhood of Arteixo, an issue that will be possible thanks to the understanding and good disposition shown during the local security board of the city council.
María Rivas recalled that the crime rate in Arteixo, according to data published by the Ministry of the Interior, in the year 2022 and which were contributed at the meeting, stood at 34.5 per thousand, well below the average in Spain that is 45.9%, and also, a point below the Galician rate that remained at 35.3 per thousand.
A particularly positive indicator that the Subdelegate wanted to highlight is the clarification of the crimes, which improved by 4.39 per thousand compared to the previous year, or which highlights the good work that the Civil Guard is doing.
The meeting of the Local Security Board, which is held on an annual basis, allows for the pooling of data for the current year, and the evaluation and comparative analysis in relation to data from previous years. The space chosen for the meeting was the Technological Center of Arteixo.
The objective now is to continue, through collaboration and cooperation, in the improvement of the indicators analyzed. Both the Deputy Delegate of the Government and the Mayor seek to continue to lower the crime rate, continue improving citizen security and give a better response to the neighborhood of Arteixo, for which they agreed to promote cooperation between administrations.
Viogen
One of the points to analyze that the Government subdelegate incorporates into all the Security Boards is the analysis of data related to gender violence. According to the government’s deputy delegate, “we owe each of the 2,184 victims who are inside the Viogen police system in the province and the 105 active cases we have in Arteixo.”
For this reason, María Rivas stressed the importance of continuing to make progress in interinstitutional coordination to advance the protection of women victims of male violence and their families.
In this regard, the subdelegate recalled that the Government of Spain, within the framework of the State Pact against Gender Violence, transferred 23,475.16 euros to the city of Arteixo for the development of activities for prevention and awareness in this matter.
