The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, highlighted the impulse of the funds of the Government Recovery Plan to the seasonalization of the tourist offer and the strengthening of the commercial activity. He did it during a visit to the arenal of Pantín, in Valdoviño, where he was accompanied by the mayor of the town, Alberto González, and the subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas.
The delegate recalled that Pantín has been hosting a surf championship for 35 years that today is a world reference and that attracts thousands of people every year to Valdoviño. “The Government is not alienating this reality, and wants to take advantage of this wave to extend tourism to every month of the year and transform the economic reality of the town with the funds of the Recovery Plan,” said Blanco.
In this regard, he indicated that the city council is a world reference not only for always having among its 17 arenales one that allows the practice of surfing, but also for making surfing accessible to people with disabilities (Pantín comes from hosting the European championship of paralympic selections) and egalitarian, since the Pantín Classic is one of the few championships of the official circuit in which the prizes are equal for men and women.
Pedro Blanco had the opportunity to review with the mayor the investments of the Government in the City of Valdoviño, among which he cited the improvement of the energy efficiency of the multipurpose building on Avenida de la Gándara, which houses the headquarters of the Civil Guard and which received about 250,000 euros or the inclusion of Valdoviño in the Network of Surf Villages, an initiative included in the ‘Experiences Turismo España’ of the Ministry of Industry that has a contribution of 500,000 euros from the Recovery Plan.
He was also able to learn about the projects of the City Council, among which are the improvement of the parking in Pantín to facilitate the organization of events throughout the year, or the creation of a high-performance center in the hands of the Superior Sports Council for surfing.
The government delegate highlighted the historical investment of this government in the transformation of tourism in Galicia. “About 200 million euros in four years in which we promote the modernization of 43 destinations in Galicia, benefiting one of every two Galician municipalities,” said Blanco.
“We are the government that created the Tourism Sustainability Plans and we are the government that makes them a reality. And in that line we will continue, on the side of the municipalities and ensuring that the money from the Recovery Plan reaches each and every one of the Galician municipalities,” he said.
