The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, today highlighted the government’s support for Galician companies in a visit to the headquarters of Norvento in Lugo, one of the firms in which the Ministry of Science and Innovation invested about 2 million euros in recent years with the purpose of walking towards a fully decarbonized model. The delegate supervised the latest projects together with the mayor of Lugo, Lara Méndez; the deputy delegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez; and the deputy in the Congress, José Ramón Gómez Besteiro, guided by the directors and staff of the company.
The delegate stressed that Norvento, a leading business group in the sector in renewables, “is a clear example that the funds of the Recovery Plan of the Government of Pedro Sánchez reach the companies”, in allusion to the financing received by the firm in recent years. “The government is the best ally of companies, working together with those who share the vision of more environmentally friendly models and processes,” explained Blanco. Not supporting these initiatives “the government’s commitment to Lugo and to the business fabric is clear”, as 25,000 Galician companies have already benefited, 4,000 of them Portuguese. The delegate said that “the commitment to the transformation of the Galician industry is unquestionable and firm, and is equal to the challenges that the sector and society demand of us.”
Funded projects
Norvento has several projects under way that are funded by more than one million euros from the Ministry of Science, through the Government Recovery Plan. Specifically, the “Airluminum” projects, with the aim of researching lighter materials manufacturing technologies; the “Neosuccess” project to promote the transition to a bio-economy in line with national and European strategies and the “Zeppelin” project, for the storage of green hydrogen.
Industrial decarbonization PERTE
During the visit, the directors and staff of Norvento presented the Technological and Industrial Plan of the company, “Norvento Zero Energy Factory”, which the company is going to present to the call for the PERTE of industrial decarbonization, with which the Government will mobilize more than 3,000 million euros. The delegate stressed that it is “an innovative initiative with which Norvento continues on the path of clean energy and the creation of jobs in the sector”, adding that “we will do everything possible to continue working from the government, because this new time brings with it new opportunities and we know that Norvento knows how to take advantage of them”, he concluded.
