The delegate of the Government in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, accompanied by the subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, met this afternoon with part of the team of the film 'O Corno' on the occasion of its pre-release in the city of A Coruña. Pedro Blanco spoke with the director of the film, Jaione Camborda, and with the main actress, Janet Novás, to whom he conveyed his congratulations for the recognition reached at the San Sebastián 2023 Festival, which makes it “an example of the potential and talent of the audiovisual industry of Galicia”. 'O Corno' reached the Golden Shell and became the first Galician film to achieve this distinction, as well as being the first directed by a Spanish director.
Pedro Blanco pointed out the support of the Government and the Ministry to the Galician audiovisual, which in the last two years took the form of financing up to 10 feature films and 8 short films by Galician producers with about 4 million euros from the Ministry, through the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA), including 'O Corno'.
Pedro Blanco added that “for this Government Culture is a State policy”, the delegate reviewed how the Ministry of Culture translated into budgets and regulatory changes the commitment to the film industry and audiovisual creation. Thus, to the approved Statute of the Artist and the processing of the reform of the Film Law, the delegate added the different lines of aid implemented in the last legislature: “Lines that range from creation to production and distribution and even assistance to cinemas, and that therefore benefit everyone in the audiovisual industry chain”.
One of the most noteworthy items is that of the production, especially of works with special cinematographic value and in which the co-official languages were present.
After the visit, both the delegate and the subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña attended the premiere of the film in the cinemas Cantones de A Coruña.
