The deputy delegate of the Government, María Rivas, participated today in the V Provincial Meeting of Voluntary and Voluntary Civil Protection Groups of A Coruña, which was held at the Paraninfo of the Rectorate of the UDC.
María Rivas highlighted the solidarity of volunteers who “in times of emergency both in the pandemic and at parties or events, help your neighborhood every day, making our society a better society, with generosity, professionalism and commitment.”
The subdelegate highlighted the work done by the Government of Pedro Sánchez to contribute to the development and strengthening of the Civil Protection System. Thus, in recent years, the Government showed its commitment to the security and care of citizens with the approval of two plans that allow us to face the changes and new risks of society.
One of them is the General State Plan for Civil Protection Emergencies, approved in 2020, which integrates for the first time in the same mechanism all the existing emergency plans, both autonomous and local.
“This union facilitates and improves collaboration between public administrations and encourages the interconnection of emergency centers, since it simplifies emergency management procedures and the organization of the communication networks of the State,” said the subdelegate.
As María Rivas explained, the General State Plan for Civil Protection Emergencies is a more efficient national emergency response mechanism, “because it mobilizes all the resources of the system between autonomous communities in undeclared situations of national interest, and allows to address non-specific multi-risk emergencies such as the COVID19 health crisis”.
In this same vein, last year the Government approved the National Disaster Risk Reduction Plan 'Horizon 2035', which considers the National Civil Protection System as an essential part of the State and as an instrument of social cohesion with the aim of bringing a minimum of protection to all people regardless of where they reside.
María Rivas also recalled the work done by the National Emergency Radio Network, a network made up of radio fans from each province who work voluntarily to guarantee emergency communications, in case of disasters caused by earthquakes, hurricanes, floods or fires.
One of the recognitions that were made this morning in the Rectorate of the University, was to the Civil Protection Unit of the Government Delegation, among other institutions.
