The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, encouraged companies in the automotive sector, one of the engines of the Galician economy along with the textile, to go to the aid of the second call for the Electric and Connected Vehicle (VEC), with a budget of almost 1,500 million euros and whose deadline for applications ends on September 15.
Pedro Blanco stressed that, with this aid, the Government is responding to the demands of the sector and, at the same time, is placing it at the head of green and sustainable mobility in Europe. “Spain is up to the industrial challenge and will support the necessary transformation of the automotive sector for more sustainable mobility,” said the delegate. In total, the Government, through the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, will dedicate some 1.5 billion euros to the allocation of the second call for the Perte VEC, which has two lines.
The first of these, with a budget of 837 million euros, is focused on the manufacture of battery cells and the enhancement of lithium and cobalt mining projects. For its part, the second line, endowed with 569 million euros (344 in grants and 215 in grants) will focus on promoting new models of electric vehicles and prototypes of battery and fuel cell (hydrogen), as well as giving a second life to these. These calls will be followed by a third call for more than 1.45 billion euros.
Requests
Applicants have at their disposal all document formats, methodological guides and access to the electronic headquarters in the aid portal of the Ministry of Industry (https://www.mincotur.gob.es/portalayudas/paginas/index.aspx).
The system for granting these calls, which total more than 3 billion euros with additional items, will be of simple concurrence. In addition, the conditions for participation were relaxed, the categories of projects eligible for support were increased and the maximum aid thresholds were updated and improved in accordance with the new time frame established by the EU.
Pedro Blanco insisted on the need not to miss this historic opportunity and recalled that this aid “is fundamental for the Galician industry, since they can guarantee the future of our automotive plants, as well as the entry of new operators who want to invest in the country”.
