The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas visited the provincial delegation of the Electoral Census Office of the INE where she held a working meeting with the delegate of the INE, Ana Belén Vegal and with the director, Jesús Pérez Travieso.
The deputy delegate of the Government stressed that after the reform of the Electoral Law in 2022 and the suppression of the rogado vote, more than 160 thousand Coruñesas and Coruñeses residing abroad will be able to vote without having to request the vote previously.
In this regard, María Rivas highlighted the intense work carried out by the staff of the Electoral Census Office that during these months prepared and sent all the necessary documentation for all residents who are going to vote by mail and more for CERA voters, residents absent abroad.
In total, 385,838 envelopes were sent from the electoral census office so that “no Coruñés or Coruñesa can remain unable to vote and guarantee to the maximum a fundamental right of all citizens” said María Rivas.
“A work that, with respect to the last general elections, multiplied by four so that all Coruñeses can exercise their right to vote regardless of the country in which they reside or the place in which they are on July 23” stressed the underdelegate.
As far as the vote CERA is concerned, a total of 326,612 envelopes distributed in two shipments with all the documentation and accurate information were sent from the electoral census office so that all the Coruñesas and Coruñeses living in 137 countries of the world can exercise their right to vote on July 23.
In total the government subdelegation in A Coruña allocated almost one and a half million ballot papers for the vote CERA. All this documentation is the one that will be used by residents abroad to deposit the vote, either in the premises authorized in the destination countries or by certified mail.
In terms of the postal vote for residentss, the electoral census delegation sent 59,226 envelopes with all the information and documentation to be able to choose the representatives of the Congress and the Senate, and for which the Government subdelegation provided more than 500,000 ballot papers.
Currently, the electoral census office is preparing the electoral lists that will be sent to each of the schools in the province in these days.
Distribution by country
As for the distribution by country of the CERA vote, Argentina remains the country of the American continent with the highest number of CERA voters, with 56,831 people who have the right to vote in the elections. This is followed by Uruguay (19,022); Cuba (12,157 ) and the United States (10,289). Switzerland is the first European country on the list, with 16,435 voters followed by the United Kingdom with 7,998; the United Arab Emirates with 86 is the first country in Corunnese voters on the Asian continent and South Africa with 69 the first in Africa. As for Oceania, Australia has 709 Corunnese voters and New Zealand has 45.
