The subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Maica Larriba today presided over the Local Security Xunta of the City Councils of Baiona and A Guarda, together with their mayors, Jesús Vázquez Almuiña and Roberto José Álvarez Carrero. The meetings were also attended by the provincial chief colonel of the Civil Guard, Simón Venzal, and other body leaders, as well as the Local Police and municipal security of both municipalities.
The main theme of the meetings was related to the celebration of its traditional summer festivities, in the case of Baiona the Fiestas de la Annunciada, which will be held on 4, 5 and 6 August and, in the case of A Guarda, the Fiestas del Monte, between 7 and 15 next month.
In Baiona, the actions to be carried out by the State Security Bodies and Forces involve the implementation of controls on access to the village of alcohol and drugs that serve as prevention due to the possible lack of responsibility of some drivers. In addition, they will support the local police officers, ensuring the good development of the festive activities. In the meeting a subdelegate of the Government also announced the strengthening of police surveillance during the summer in this municipality due to its large tourist influx. Likewise, Maica Larriba pointed out that Baiona “is a very safe and quiet town hall despite its dynamism, especially in these months, as exemplified by the fall of 10% of prison infractions so far this year”.
In the Maica Larriba Guard she supervised the operations necessary for the good development of the multitudinous Fiestas del Monte, which involve establishing a broad coordination between the Local Police and the Civil Guard to guarantee security. Among the actions to be carried out, the patrols will be strengthened to guarantee citizen security and the Civil Traffic Guard will activate mobile and random traffic controls in the main accesses and exits of the town, having several patrols for the realization of alcohol and drug controls.
On the other hand, the Xunta of Security analyzed the figures of prison infractions registered during the first six months of the year in this city, which stand out, as reported by the subdelegate, by a drop of 32.45%, a very important decrease that places the municipality at levels even lower than those registered in 2019.
