The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, participated today in the presentation of the 2023 lyric season that once again organizes the Association of Friends of the Opera and that since 2019 has the financial support of the Government, through the National Institute for Performing Arts and Music.
The deputy delegate congratulated the president of the association, Natalia Lamas, for the work, work and effort they carry out from Friends of the Opera and points out that they can agree to a reference both national and international. María Rivas also had words of recognition for who, since last year, is the new artistic director of the association, Aquiles Machado.
María Rivas highlighted the commitment that the Government has to culture since, since 2019, they contribute through the INAEM about half a million euros “to guarantee the best development of this lyric season”.
In this same vein, he considers that this commitment to industry and cultural agents is a “determining factor in the generation of a better, freer and more critical society.” He also stressed the importance of culture as a generator of wealth, which in Spain accounts for about 2.4% of GDP “therefore has a great social impact and has a direct impact on reducing inequalities”.
The deputy delegate congratulated the president and the artistic director of Amigos de la Ópera for having brought a year more to the city a first-class program with a wide variety of activities “that will undoubtedly contribute to bringing lyrics, the best music and culture to everyone.”
In addition to the president and artistic director of Amigos de la Ópera, the lieutenant of the mayor and councilor for Culture, Gonzalo Castro, was also present at the presentation.
