The Government Delegation in Galicia this week finalizes the logistical and security devices to ensure that 2,225,962 voters can exercise their right to vote in the municipal elections next Sunday. In these elections, Galicia will name the 3,705 seats of councillors and councillors of the 313 municipalities; 108 seats of deputies in the four provincial deputies and 8 posts of mayo-pedáneo in the Galician EATIM (entity of territorial scope lower than the municipality).
The Delegation allocates 3.4 million euros to the costs arising from the logistics and security of this electoral process, an amount significantly lower than that of the previous local elections, since they coincided in date with the elections to the European Parliament. A significant part of this amount will be used to pay compensation to the more than 21,400 people who work in the preparation and development of the election day. Among them, the 11,883 members of polling stations; the 2,580 representatives of the administration, responsible for the transmission of data at the polling stations; and the 7,209 members of the Security Forces and Corps who will ensure the normality of the day.
In these days the Delegation and the subdelegations of the Government are working, in collaboration with the local entities of Galicia, to finalize the locations where the votes will be held, up to 2,360 locations throughout Galicia, which will house 3,961 tables and ballot boxes and 2,360 booths.
During the last weeks, the necessary documentation was prepared at each of the tables (minutes, instructions, etc.), and all the stationery (envelopes and ballot papers) that must be accessible on Sunday in each of the electoral colleges of Galicia. At the same time, the Delegation participated in two simulations of the data transmission system used by the representatives of the Administration to transfer data on the opening and closing of tables, progress of participation and final scrutiny. The last of these simulations was held this Monday throughout Spain.
