The Government’s deputy delegate in A Coruña, María Rivas, presided this morning in the delivery of cyberexperts cards that the National Police has delivered to 125 sixth grade students from four public schools in A Coruña. He was accompanied by the Provincial Commissioner, Fernando Martínez.
To obtain this card, students have had to successfully complete a training course in the safe use of the Internet taught by Alberto Arias, inspector of Citizen Participation and agent Abraham Arruñada. They have been in charge of giving these talks in educational centers, as well as other topics such as bullying, alcohol and drugs, equal opportunities and prevention of gender violence or youth gangs.
The program, with a duration of five teaching hours, is divided into ten didactic units in which, among other issues, it focuses on aspects such as cyberbullying, identity theft, grooming, sexting, technoaddictions, rules to maintain the privacy of users, as well as resources and tips for safe navigation.
The subdelegate of the Government has congratulated the students for completing this course and has recognized the work done by the National Police to train in security in the use of the Internet, emphasizing to the students the importance of knowing the risks in the use of these technologies and of communicating to their parents, school or the Police when they detect one of these dangers.
María Rivas has stressed the importance of receiving this type of training and that minors know how to recognize that certain behaviors that are carried out through the Internet are considered a crime.
Inspector Alberto Arias, one of those responsible for teaching this program, has congratulated the students for successfully approving the course.
Víctor López Seoane, Mesoiro, Labaca and the CEIP of Practices, with the early childhood and primary education centers that have intervened in today’s event. During the celebration of this day the students were able to communicate live through a videoconference with the humorist David Perdomo and the doorman of the Sports Club Ian Mackay, who gave them some security tips to use on the networks.
The program
The Ciberexpert@ program is a project created by the National Police, with the support of Telefónica and the collaboration of the Foundation of Cybervolunteers to improve the digital education of families.
The objectives of the program are to carry out activities to sensitize minors about the risks they may encounter in the daily use of ICT, train them for the safe use of the Internet and social networks, and raise awareness about the importance of properly managing online and offline privacy.
To achieve these objectives, the delegations of Citizen Participation of the National Police with the support of the Educational Community give training talks in schools.
