9,325 students from the province of Lugo participated in the first quarter of the year in the activities of the Coexistence Plan for schools
The subdelegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, today welcomed the good progress of the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in the schools of the province, which in this first quarter of the year had the participation of 9,325 students in the 238 activities carried out by the Civil Guard and National Police in 81 schools in the province of Lugo under this program, which aims to bring tools to train students in respect for rights and freedoms and values of dignity and equality.
Compared to the first quarter of 2022 there is a 27% increase in student participation. “These data confirm the consolidation of the program, highly valued by the educational community, which every year improves the participation figures, and which seeks the welfare of the students and a good climate in the school classrooms,” said the subdelegate during a visit to the CEIP Ramón Piñeiro de Láncara, accompanied by the mayor of the municipality, Darío Piñeiro; and the deputy mayor, Pablo Rivera.
Isabel Rodríguez highlighted that the correct and safe use of new technologies and bullying are the most frequent informative talks requested by the school community, with 137 activities carried out in these first three months of the year, which represents 59% of the total. Training was also provided on video game addictions, drugs and alcohol, gender violence, forest fire prevention, road safety, hate crime and job counseling.
In addition, the agents of the Civil Guard and the National Police held 6 media exhibitions in schools in the province where the students were able to discover how the scientific and canine units work, among other services.
Forest fire prevention
On Wednesday, the Civil Guard instructors went to the CEIP Ramón Piñeiro to give an informative and training talk on forest fire prevention to the 3rd and 4th grade students of ESO. During the day, the professionals made raptors and girls aware of the care of the mountains, the conservation of the natural heritage, as well as the extinction and investigation of the fires.
