The subdelegation of the Government in A Coruña hosted this morning the provincial commission of the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers where the management of this program in the first quarter of the 2022-2023 academic year in the province has been taken into account.
María Rivas has shown her conviction that the Plan of Coexistence, which has already been in existence for 15 years, is a fundamental reference in educational centers for both students and parents. He also stressed that the activities of the plan “are a key work recognized by society.”
The deputy delegate of the Government María Rivas stressed that this program, which is developed in coordination with the Xunta and the Fegamp, has managed “that security has been incorporated as one more subject to the integral training that is taught in Galician educational centers.”
A reality that is confirmed with the figures obtained in the first quarter of this course, in which 12,883 people members of the educational community of A Coruña have participated in the activities led by the Civil Guard and National Police teams.
María Rivas has detailed that in the first months of this course, under the umbrella of the master plan, 553 talks and training have been given in 131 educational centers throughout the province of A Coruña.
The subdelegate stressed the importance of the coexistence plan to “prevent, detect and deal with complicated situations” and highlighted the role played by security forces and bodies in terms of prevention “a task that is unnoticed in many cases but that is essential”.
After the return to normality after the pandemic, there has been a strong increase in the number of centers that submitted their application to participate in activities of the coexistence plan. Thus, during 2021 and 2022, a total of 577 centers and 59,819 members of the educational community have participated. A total of 3,054 talks have been given, of which 1,206 have focused on cybersecurity, 707 on harassment, 340 on gender violence and 268 on drugs, alcohol and other addictions.
Requested topics
With regard to the activities requested by the centres, the Government ' s sub-delegate explained that the activities requested reflect the concerns of the educational community. In this sense, and with the data that these first months show, training activities related to cybersecurity are the most demanded in schools, followed by school bullying and gender violence.
Thus, in this first quarter, a total of 169 talks were given on cybersecurity, 122 on harassment, 96 on gender violence and 44 on drugs, alcohol and other addictions.
María Rivas has also highlighted the collaboration with the Anpas, one of the pending issues in the plan of coexistence and which has been taken up for a few months. As explained by the subdelegate, thanks to this collaboration the security forces and bodies have been incorporated into the days and work sessions that the parents’ associations maintain periodically .
