The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, has this afternoon approached the Carmela Arias Díaz de Rábago Social Insertion Center to deliver Mavi, the travelling suitcase, which contains different books on feminism and equality.
The purpose of this suitcase, which will remain in the library of the center for up to three months, is to help both women and men to carry out reflection, sensitization and awareness work on issues of vulnerability such as gender violence.
With this initiative that today has reached the CIS of A Coruña, it is intended that internal and internal women can have the opportunity to access different readings on feminism, empowerment and self-esteem. At the same time, it aims to promote critical thinking in the face of stereotypes and gender roles that are socially perpetuated and promote gender violence.
The suitcase contains 12 titles, among which are “Not to me was going to happen: an autobiography with a gender perspective” by Laura Freixas or “Feminism for beginners” by Nuria Varela Santolaya
The travelling suitcase against gender-based violence began its journey in the town hall of Vimianzo and has continued its journey to Cedeira, from where it has arrived at the CIS. Currently there are two other suitcases that are traveling around the province, one is in Melide and the other in Mañón. This suitcase will reach municipal libraries and libraries of schools, foster homes or associations that are victims of gender violence.
During the presentation of the project, María Rivas was accompanied by the head of the Unit against Violence against Women, Maribel Álvarez, and the director of the center, Carla García.
