The subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Maica Larriba, highlighted the commitment of the Government with the province and with the development of sustainable tourism this morning in the City of A Guarda. There he met with its mayor, Antonio Lomba, to address the different actions derived from the implementation of the Tourist Sustainability Plan in Destination, which involves an investment of 1 million euros to promote different actions aimed at promoting sustainable tourism and in value the environmental and historical heritage of this villa.
This Plan, financed by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism under the Government’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, aims to promote green and gastronomic tourism in the city, promoting the gastronomic events that already exist in the town and that are already a national reference, such as the Lobster or Swordfish festival.
Among the actions planned by the City Council to promote green and sustainable tourism is the creation of a pedestrian and cyclist path around Mount Santa Tegra, the creation of a new parking area next to the park and the implementation of a new system of access and green transport, which allows to decongest the suburbs of the tourist good.
In addition, the Plan seeks to revitalize the River Miño and contemplates the creation of an area of nautical activity in the Pasaxe.
The tools of augmented reality, together with the improvements in the signage in the main points of tourist interest, will allow for the value of the heritage resources of the city. Likewise, the commitment to digitization will be supported by the organization of virtual fairs, famtrips and blogtrips, and with the development of a training plan for the tourism sector. The strategy designed also includes the creation of a tourism observatory, as well as the constitution of a managing body with qualified professionals in this field.
For Maica Larriba, “this Plan will allow us to update and support a designated and reference destination for Galicia and for the whole province, such as A Guarda, contributing to design an attractive and sustainable offer for tourism in the city and, ultimately, in Pontevedra”.

Thus, the subdelegate stressed, “the Government of Spain will inject more than one million euros in the Guarda to promote sustainable tourism and preserve its heritage and they attest to the commitment that the Government maintains with Pontevedra and with the whole of Galicia”.
