The subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Maica Larriba, visited on Monday the work of humanization and reform of the Rúa Ramón Encinas, on the Paseo de Raxó, in Poio, together with its mayor, Luciano Sobral, the deputy mayor and mayor of Urbanism and Economic Promotion, Gregorio Agís, and other members of the government team. These works, which will make it possible to recover part of the town’s coastal façade and represent an investment of more than 800,000 euros, are financed with an aid of half a million euros from the Institute for Diversification and Energy Saving (IDAE), an agency belonging to the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.
During her visit, Maica Larriba highlighted this action that will allow the updating of the sanitation system, storerooms and telecommunication systems in this area. “In addition, the intervention also includes the paving of 300 meters of walk with sustainable materials, as well as the creation of two exclusive zones for pawns. One in the part closest to the beach and another to the existing homes and premises in the area,” explained the subdelegate.
The subdelegate stressed that these works will not only improve the social, maritime or tourist level, but will definitely improve the accessibility and pedestrian traffic of this coastal area, also favoring the use of the bicycle and contributing to reduce emissions and the carbon footprint in the locality. “This initiative means that the Paseo de Raxó opens up to everyone and is greener and more inclusive,” he said.
The intervention is financed with IDAE grants for local entities. Aid amounting to more than 3.4 million euros in this City Council has already made it possible to replace many of its public luminaires, improve the Drought pavilion, replace the roof of the City Council’s house, humanize the centre of Xuviño and improve pedestrian mobility on the road from Puerto Santo to Campelo.
“Interventions that make it possible to make city, break barriers, guarantee a green future for this city and gain space for people,” said Maica Larriba, who thanked the mayor for his cooperation. “The municipalities are protagonists of the modernization led by this government, with a direct impact on people’s daily lives,” he said.
More investments in the locality
The deputy delegate recalled that these are not the only state aid that Poio is receiving. In this regard, he stressed that “the Government’s Recovery Plan is coming to Poio to improve its proximity trade, education, broadband coverage and municipal facilities, among others.” In this regard, he recalled that the municipality comes from receiving a grant of 158,480 euros within the framework of the Local Pirep, to rehabilitate and expand the old unitary school of Arén, in the parish of Samieira.
For the subdelegate, “these facts confirm that the Government Recovery Plan is reaching every corner of the province, and is already serving to improve the lives of neighbors and neighbors in each municipality of Pontevedra.”
