The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas has today moved to Camariñas to supervise the beginnings of the works of conditioning the pedestrian path between Cabo Vilán and the Cemetery of the English. This action with a budget of 1,946,742 euros is financed by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, through the Recovery Plan.
During her visit, María Rivas recalled that the Government’s Recovery Plan “is reaching all corners of the province with transversal actions that result in the welfare of citizens.” The deputy delegate explained that every week “I travel many kilometers of the province to supervise and verify how these funds are managing to recover and revitalize our landscape, our roads, our coasts and ultimately our economy.”
María Rivas pointed out that the almost two million euros that the Government has allocated for the recovery of this route “are more than deserved, because this coast is a landscape show that needs all our support, not only for its value in itself but also for the tourist attraction that it represents for Camariñas with the consequent economic return that this implies”.
The mayor of Camariñas, Sandra Insúa, showed her satisfaction for the beginning of this work that, as she transferred to the subdelegate, is a route that unites all the neighbors and neighbors of the different parishes of the municipality that, especially in the summer months, go to the cemetery of the English, the dune of Monte Blanco or the beaches of Reira. Insúa thanked the Government for this drive to condition what is already a symbol of tourism on the Costa da Morte.
During her visit the subdelegate was accompanied by the mayor, Sandra Insua, councilors of the government team and by the head of Demarcation of Costas, Rafael Eimil.
Technical characteristics
The action, which includes the stretch that goes from Cape Vilan to the Cemetery of the English, with 6,539 kilometers in length, aims to preserve and preserve the natural ecosystem, enable a safe pedestrian crossing, solve the alterations in the road, guarantee protection on the coast and put value to this space. As for the deadline for the execution of the work, it is eight months.
The works contemplated by the Demarcation of Coasts in Galicia are the conditioning of the existing path, creating a pedestrian path of 1.60 meters wide stabilized between wooden sidewalk and with a green berm as an intermediate zone between the path and the cliffs.
In addition, the transit area for emergency and service vehicles will be improved. Finally, information panels will be installed on the environmental values of this space and the wooden handrails will be improved
