The Government delegate in Galicia, José Miñones, has presided today the meeting that sets in motion the logistics planning of the Government Delegation in Galicia for the local elections on May 28. The meeting, held in A Coruña, brought together the people responsible for the general secretariats of the Government Delegation in Galicia and the four subdelegations of the Government in the respective provinces.
José Miñones has insisted on the relevance of this task, which ranges from the verification of voting premises, the security of all phases of the process, the provision of material resources and the transmission of official information on the opening and closing of polling stations, participation, and the scrutiny and transmission of the results.
The delegate recalled that the General Administration of the State has assigned two specific functions in this electoral process. On the one hand, to provide the necessary logistical support for the exercise of the vote and, on the other, to transmit the data of participation and scrutiny on the same day of the elections.
To carry out these tasks, the Government Delegation works closely with the municipalities, more intensively in the weeks prior to the day of the vote. This collaboration is essential for the deployment of technical and material means required by this process: nearly 4,000 voting tables in more than 2,400 venues enabled for this purpose throughout Galicia.
Human deployment
José Miñones pointed out that a significant deployment of security personnel and administration personnel will be mobilized, which is currently being outlined. These staff will be located in the voting centers, in their accesses and other points of interest of the day. In addition, throughout that day, the headquarters of the Government Delegation will have personnel authorized to resolve any incident that may arise with the representatives, the municipalities, the constitution of the tables or the material, in collaboration with the Electoral Boards.
For the last local elections, which coincided with the elections to the European Parliament, the Government Delegation mobilized 10,500 people in Galicia, of which almost 7,000 were members of the various security forces and bodies.
