The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña María Rivas moderated this morning the discussion table “Mulleres no Centro: Experiences a nosa voz” a discussion and reflection table around 8M, the role of women, the path traveled and the challenges that still remain to be achieved.
María Rivas, who acted as moderator, expressed her pride for “belonging to a government in which one of four laws that it approves is destined to the fight against inequality”
The subdelegate recalled that, precisely, equality is one of the fundamental axes on which the Government’s Recovery Plan is based and that in the last three years public policies have been activated to resolve the material, symbolic and valuable inequalities suffered by women.
María Rivas stressed the importance of knowing, listening and understanding different realities of women who live in “areas other than ours” such as rural or penitentiary, referring to the visit she made the day before to Teixeiro.
The panel was attended by Ana Isabel Ulloa, president of the association of businesswomen of A Coruña, Gisela Garabante, migrant; Bibiana Santiso, author of a study on machismo in the world of sport and Miriam Couceiro, sociologist and writer.
During this meeting, both the attendees and the protagonists of the debate reflected on issues such as edadism or the “feminism of affections”. All of them agreed that there is still a long way to go to achieve full equality and agreed on the importance of meetings of this kind to share experiences and join forces.
