Ourense, March 9, 2023.- The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Emilio González, held today the follow-up meeting of the Plan of Coexistence and Improvement of School Safety in Galician schools, which this year has regained momentum with various formations actions in which new technologies and school bullying are highlighted as central axes. Emilio González focused on “in these two years of pandemic I want to recognize the effort of the educational community of Ourense. Also the work of the security forces, which have continued to work on the security training of students, teachers and parents despite the circumstances,” he said at the meeting held this Wednesday in the Government Subdelegation. The Master Plan has been in force for 15 years in Galicia, obtaining the best participation figures. This was confirmed today by the deputy delegate. Emilio González stressed that this operational program, which is being developed in coordination with the Xunta and the Fegamp, has managed to “incorporate security as one more subject to the integral training that is taught in Galician educational centers.” A reality that is confirmed by the figures obtained in the first quarter of this year, in which 35,000 members of the educational community participated in the activities led by the teams of the Civil Guard and the National Police. The master plan has carried out 481 talks during the academic year and training in educational centers throughout the province -71 in educational centers of the Diputación de Ourense: “One in two schools formalizes applications for preventive training by the National Police and Civil Guard.” Until the end of the year, the Civil Guard has scheduled 49 new activities.
Regarding the topics requested, the Government’s deputy delegate stressed that they serve to know “what are the concerns of such an important group. The demand for topics related to new technologies is decreasing, although it is still the most requested, as well as the educational one in reference to citizen security.” Training activities against bullying are increasing, which took the form of more than 300 training actions, 15% more than last year. There has also been a 10% increase in awareness-raising activities to prevent and act against gender violence. Topics also include drugs and alcohol, youth gangs, and other complementary topics. In addition to the subdelegate of the Government, the provincial commission of the Master Plan was attended by the head of the High Educational Inspection Area of the Government Delegation, Manuel Regueiro: the head of the Violence against Women unit of Ourense, Alida Iglesias; members of the National Police and the Civil Guard; the Educational Inspection of the Government and the Secretary General of the Subdelegation, Manuel Arias. These activities involved 24,121 members of the educational community, of whom 22,500 were students and the rest, teachers and parents. “The data cannot be better,” said the deputy delegate, who reiterated the “need and importance of involving ANPAS in the topics of the talks so that parents can be informed and updated and promote the cross-cutting nature of the contents.”
