The Government’s deputy delegate in A Coruña, María Rivas, traveled this morning to Moeche to visit the fairgrounds of San Ramón, where one of the eight ships is located that thanks to the Just Transition funds will be rehabilitated to turn it into a Rural Economic and Social Dynamization Center Tic (CEDES).
The building that will be enabled thanks to 1.123.556.43 € granted by the Fair Transition Institute has dimensions of 1.500 square meters and in it will be enabled a teleworking center, public and free, and an ICT training classroom. In addition, eight coworking spaces will also be installed.
During her visit to Moeche, the deputy delegate was accompanied by Mayor Beatriz Bascoy, who transferred to her the great potential of the associative fabric existing in the municipality. A network of associations that thanks to these funds will have a space to work on projects that contribute to local and regional development.
The group of “Facilitating Mulleres” recently created in the town hall or the local council of childhood and adolescence will be some of the groups that will be able to enjoy and make use of this new space.
The deputy delegate of the Government has highlighted the commitment of the Government of Pedro Sánchez with the municipalities that will be affected by the closure of the As Pontes and Meirama plant, ensuring that “as the name of these funds indicates, the Government has been concerned from the first minute that these municipalities suffer the least possible impact and can redirect their future, in a fair and balanced way, towards new opportunities, in a way more in accordance with the needs of the market”
In addition to Moeche, the funds of the Just Transition agreement will reach 11 other municipalities in the province affected by the closures of the As Pontes and Meirama power plants. Cabanas, Ferrol, Cerdido, Mañón, As Somozas, San Sadurniño, Ortigueira, As Somozas, Monfero, Cerceda, Ordes and Tordoia are other municipalities benefiting from this aid that total 11.5 million euros distributed in the province of A Coruña
The Deputy Government Delegate stressed the importance of many of these projects being carried out in demographically challenging municipalities such as Moeche. One of the objectives of these funds is to attract population to these municipalities that in recent years have suffered a decrease in the number of inhabitants.
The subdelegate took advantage of her visit to Moeche to remember the new call of the Government for the 19 municipalities of the regions of As Pontes and Meirama that are within the Fair Transition Agreement and that will distribute 25 million euros for initiatives in municipal facilities This new opportunity is added to the allocation of 11.5 million euros for social, environmental and cultural projects in 12 municipalities of the province
“We add opportunities for these municipalities and their population in our commitment to a fair green transition for these territories,” said the deputy delegate.
María Rivas recalled that the Government has a Fair Transition Office in As Pontes to advise on the submission of applications and accompany in the processing of them.
This aid will reward the hiring of people registered on the Fair Transition Institute’s job boards with the aim of promoting the creation of priority employment for workers affected by the closure of the power plants. Likewise, the creation of jobs for women, young people, people over 45 years of age and people with disabilities will be rewarded.
For the allocation of aid, the environmental and social benefits of the projects, their employability, their tractive effect on the territory, their innovation and their location in municipalities affected by depopulation, the demographic challenge and the closure of power plants have been assessed.
