The Deputy Delegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, today extolled in the House of Culture of Burela the important work carried out by the women who work in the Command of the Civil Guard of Lugo. It did so during the inauguration of the round table `Rural area, women and Civil Guard three realities with future´ organized by the Civil Guard with the collaboration of the City of Burela on the occasion of the 8-M.
Isabel Rodríguez stressed, before more than 520 students from the IES Perdoumo and Monte Castelo de Burela, that for women “there are no barriers that we cannot break either in the Civil Guard or in other areas of society.” In this regard, he thanked the students, teachers and management team for their participation in this activity “because schools and institutes are the best places to inculcate and promote the values of equality.”
In her speech, the subdelegate highlighted the work carried out in the rural area of the province of Lugo by the 72 women who belong to the Civil Guard and highlighted the progress in recent years in the incorporation of women into the security forces and bodies. “We must continue to work along these lines, for effective gender equality that favors real access for women to all destinations and positions, including those with greater risk or responsibility,” she said.
It also highlighted this type of initiative that shows the great involvement and commitment of the security forces and bodies to the issues of debate and concern in society, making visible the image of women within the Institution, closely linked to the rural environment.
“With this round table we are once again proclaiming loud and clear that we are going to continue to push for women to have the main role they deserve in society and for the obstacles to equality to be eliminated,” concluded the deputy delegate.
The day was the scene of an exchange of experiences moderated by the post commander of Baraja, Sergeant Ana Isabel Caleya; first among the Traffic Subsector Mónica Revilla Celeiro, the civil guard of the Traffic Subsector Jessica Veiga Rielo, the civil guards of the post of Foz María Sherezade Lamas Barroso and Eva López Gómez, and the civil guard of the rapid intervention service Eva Autrán Romero.
