The delegate of the Government in Galicia, José Miñones, valued in the afternoon of this Monday in Ribadavia (Ourense) the impulse of the Government of Pedro Sánchez the more sustainable and competitive industry, with special importance to the agri-food sector, in which Galicia is a reference. The delegate stressed the great opportunity that the Strategic Project for Agri-Food Recovery and Economic Transformation (PERTE) opens for Galicia, with an investment of 1,800 million euros from the Government Recovery Plan to which companies from all over the country can opt. He pointed this out during a visit in Ribadavia to the winery of Venía Costera, one of the main companies in the sector, which opts for the aid for industrial strengthening of the PERTE Agroalimentary. The government’s deputy delegate in Ourense, Emilio González, also attended the visit.
José Miñones discussed with the president and delegate of Venía Costera, Andrés Rodríguez, the lines of support of the Government to the wine sector, framed in the current PASVE (Plan of Support to the Spanish Wine Sector) 2019-2023, with which the Government transferred to the Xunta 7.1 million euros in the last year to distribute aid among Galician wine producers: EUR 1.3 million for the promotion of wines in third countries, EUR 3.4 million for the restructuring and conversion of vineyards and EUR 2.4 million for the 2023 investment programme.
In addition, within the framework of PASVE, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food this year activates a budget of 15 million euros for the Green Harvest program, with which producers have access to compensation for the loss of income linked to the elimination of immature grape clusters.
The impact of the Recovery Plan
The delegate congratulated the directive of Venía Costera for its capacity for innovation, export and growth. “Viña Costeira brings the name of Galicia to markets such as Germany and the United States. It is a sustainable and dynamic company that shows that the transformation of our production model is underway,” he said. In this sense, he showed his conviction that the company will have its opportunity in the PERTE Agroalimenario, in which he opts for the call for aid for industrial strengthening actions, which is open until tomorrow Tuesday, February 28 and which has an endowment of 510 million euros.
“Galicia is a reference for the agri-food industry and the PERTE designed by the Government of Pedro Sánchez to promote this sector is, precisely, a great opportunity for our community,” said José Miñones, who pointed out that this industry generates 9% of employment and 7% of the GDP of our community.
“The transformation of our production model is already underway”, the delegate celebrated, and valued the arrival in Galicia of the funds of the Recovery Plan as “an opportunity that the Ourense and Galician industry are already taking advantage of”. In this line, José Miñones pointed out that with the PERTE Agro-food and the Recovery Plan, “the Government is achieving three objectives in Galicia: creating quality employment, promoting sustainability and competitiveness and strengthening the future of the Galician industry”.
The delegate detailed that the Agri-Food PERTE has budgeted 1.8 billion euros of public investment and that it plans to mobilize up to 3 billion with private capital, which will create and consolidate 16,000 jobs throughout the country. In this regard, he stressed that public-private collaboration is essential for the recovery and transformation of the economy.
“With the Government Recovery Plan we are laying the foundations for a more sustainable and more competitive Galicia, hand in hand with thriving companies such as Venía Costera”, concluded the delegate.
