On International Education Day, which is celebrated today, the Government’s deputy delegate in A Coruña wanted to remember the need to “educate in values such as equality, tolerance and respect for diversisad” in order to consolidate a more just and egalitarian society in all areas.
María Rivas has thus begun the meeting that she held this morning with representative of the Provincial Federation of Anpas of Public Centers, National Police, Civil Guard and High Inspection of Education with the aim of collecting suggestions and needs related to the Master Plan for the Improvement of Coexistence and Security that is carried out in schools and institutes of the province.
During the academic year 2021/2022, agents specialized in training of the Civil Guard and National Police have traveled 294 centers of A Coruña in which 1,774 activities were carried out: 680 have been related to new technologies, 486 to bullying, 211 to gender-based violence and 141 to drugs and alcohol.
The theme of the activities that are postponed depends on the demand of the schools or institutes in which the Master Plan is developed. As the data indicates, new technologies, school bullying and gender violence are the topics that arouse the most interest.
In total, during the last academic year 37,091 people participated in these activities, of which 35,046 were students, 1,500 teachers and 545 parents.
The Federation of Anpas of the province has highlighted the need to get more involvement of mothers and fathers in the activities carried out in the centers, within the framework of the Master Plan. To this end, different initiatives have been proposed between the federation and the security forces and bodies that will be launched in the coming days. All the participants in the meeting agreed that the collaboration of the family environment of the students is fundamental to achieve the objectives set in the Master Plan.
The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, has highlighted this plan to “prevent, detect and deal with complicated situations”. She has also stressed the need to “improve the level of knowledge of the plan itself among families” and boost their participation in it.
María Rivas has highlighted “the very important role played by security forces and bodies in matters of prevention, a work that is not seen but is essential”.
For their part, the representatives of the Federation of Anpas have highlighted “the tact and sensitivity” with which both the National Police and the Civil Guard carry out the activities of the Master Plan that manage to capture the attention and interest of the students.
The deputy delegate highlighted the good reception of the Master Plan by the educational community and also highlighted the efforts made by the Government in all matters related to prevention and information among young people and adolescents.
María Rivas took advantage of today’s meeting to thank all the parties involved for their work and has guaranteed the support of the subdelegation to get more schools in the province involved in the activities of the Master Plan.
The Government’s deputy delegate has mainly highlighted the work of the National Police and the Civil Guard and recalled that its activity in the Master Plan began in 2007, the year in which this initiative was put into operation and continues until today.
The meeting held this morning in the subdelegation of the Government was attended by the president and vice-president of the Federation of Ampas of public centers of the province, María José Ferreño and Maite Fuentes as well as the High Inspector of Education, José Alfeiran. On the part of the Civil Guard has been the coordinator of the Master Plan, Fernando Rodríguez and the trainer Sergio Garcia and on the part of the National Police, the Chief Commissioner of the Brigade, Mónica Martín and Abraham Arruñada of citizen participation.
