The government delegate in Galicia, has highlighted the potential of the twelve sections of the Natural Roads Program in Galicia, where this government initiative offers 537 kilometers of routes that combine nature and heritage. In FITUR, José Miñones has pointed out that these routes make up its own and distinctive offer in tourism in Galicia, which allows to satisfy the current demand for active tourism and nature in a respectful and sustainable way. In addition, these routes serve to generate economic activity in the concellos where they run, mainly in rural areas.
The government delegate attended yesterday with Minister Luis Planas the presentation of the activities that the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food will carry out in its stand of FITUR to publicize the tourist attractions offered by the Natural Roads. There, he celebrated the Government’s commitment to the tourism promotion of this program, which this year celebrates its 30th anniversary.
In this year of celebration, the Ministry will reinforce the campaign “Caminos Naturales de España. Choose your path” that aims to reach a large segment of the population so that they consider this sustainable tourism alternative among their options. Within the framework of this campaign, the Ministry sponsored in 2022 the VI Trail Ribeira Sacra, in Ourense.
The objectives for this year are to advance the accessibility of the routes or part of them and improve the dissemination tools available: website, applications, computers, viewer, graphic resources, technical data...
Natural Roads of Galicia
The Natural Paths are configured as green itineraries that cross the Spanish geography and that have a wide range of natural, cultural, landscape and historical qualities. They are routes for walking or cycling and that guarantee the minimum environmental impact on the environment while promoting environmentally friendly transport systems, so they promote sustainable mobility.
