The government delegate in Galicia, José Miñones, will advance tomorrow in FITUR to the municipalities of Galicia the opportunity offered by the new call of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism for the rehabilitation of historical heritage for tourist use and that will make available to the administrations of the whole of Spain up to 208 million euros from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. José Miñones was convinced today that the municipalities of Galicia will take advantage of this state call, which the Ministry will open soon to highlight the important historical heritage of Galician towns and cities and strengthen Galicia as a cultural destination in Spain.
José Miñones will travel to Madrid tomorrow to support in FITUR the presentation of the Tourist Sustainability Plans in Destination that are promoted by different municipalities, deputies and associations of local type and that are being financed by the Government of Spain through the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism. There he will transfer to the mayors, mayors and local managers the details of this new opportunity, which is part of the Recovery Plan.
The delegate recalled that the Ministry of Industry is already promoting with 25 million euros of the Recovery Plan 13 actions on the cultural heritage of tourist use in Galicia, “in a clear commitment to the recovery of our heritage and to the empowerment of the cultural tourist offer of Galicia, a fortress that distinguishes it from other national tourist destinations”.
Call details
The Ministry of Industry has already published the bases of the call for applications, so the potentially beneficiary administrations already have the necessary information to be able to prepare their applications. José Miñones indicated that there will be two lines: one destined to regional administrations (with a pre-allocation of 69.5 million euros) and a second, to local entities (with a pre-allocation of 139 million euros).
The basic condition for granting the grant will be that the heritage object of the rehabilitation has the declaration of Asset of Cultural Interest and, in addition, is owned by the requesting administration. Each project must exceed 750,000 euros of minimum investment and may not exceed 3 million euros. The aid will be granted by competitive competition and the goods, once rehabilitated, must be destined for public tourist use for a minimum of ten years, without private economic activity.
Among the eligible actions, those of conservation and maintenance, are added those of improvement of accessibility, energy efficiency, installation of intelligent technologies, actions of reuse and improvement of waste management, and ecological rehabilitation among others.
