The government delegate in Galicia, José Miñones, celebrated this morning the impact of the Program of Support to the Rehabilitation Offices, with which the Government promotes the energy rehabilitation of homes through the Recovery Plan. On a visit to the College of Architects of Galicia (COAG), José Miñones conveyed the Executive’s impetus on housing: Since 2018, the Government of Pedro Sánchez has transferred to the Xunta de Galicia about 300 million euros for actions in homes, buildings and neighborhoods. He specified that between 2018 and 2021, 182.5 million were transferred and in the year 2022 alone, 101 million. In addition, he said that this budgetary commitment will have continuity this year and the next, with the objective of rehabilitating 25,000 homes in Galicia and building 1,200 new social housing. In this regard, he called on the Xunta to make progress in the execution of these funds, since the distribution that will be decided between the communities in this year’s Sectoral Conference will depend on it: “The communities that rehabilitate the most will receive more funds to continue rehabilitating.”
José Miñones stressed that the Government’s housing policies and the Recovery Plan are aimed at making “housing a real right for Galicians and Galicians and not just an article of the Constitution.” The delegate met with the group of architects to examine with the professionals of the sector the actions with which the Government is promoting housing and, more specifically, rehabilitation. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the COAG of A Coruña and in it participated the dean, Elena Ampudia, and other members of the school. The Government’s deputy delegate in A Coruña, María Rivas, also attended.
The delegate stressed the importance of the ecological transition, to which the Government devotes two out of every five euros of the Recovery Plan and the economic impact on the community: “The Recovery Plan reaches Galicia and reaches companies, specifically the real estate sector, which has a very important weight in the economy and employment.” He added that this Government is the main ally of companies in the process of transformation and recovery of Galicia.
Faced with the unique opportunity for Galicia of the Recovery Plan, the delegate calls for co-governance and public-private collaboration, to take advantage of the last plan to transform Galicia and modernize the housing stock with criteria of energy efficiency and sustainability.
The rehabilitation offices offer services to citizens, communities of owners, companies and rehabilitating agents, in terms of information, processing and monitoring of the rehabilitation actions of homes and residential buildings. The Government Recovery Plan covers the costs of design, implementation and management of equipment.
