The subdelegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, highlighted today in O Incio the success of participation of the “Master Plan for the coexistence and improvement of security in educational centers and their environments” of the province of Lugo, with almost 11,000 attendees in more than 330 activities during the year 2022. “These data demonstrate the impact that these activities are having on the school community and the demand that exists to raise awareness and contribute to training at an early age on values as important as respect and equality, eradicating any type of violence in the classrooms,” said Rodríguez.
The subdelegate participated this morning in a talk on the risks of new technologies given by the Civil Guard to students of 4th, 5th and 6th grade of primary school of the CEIP Ricardo Gasset, in the City of O Incio, one of the 100 centers that collaborate in the Master Plan of the Ministry of Interior. There, accompanied by the mayor, Héctor Corujo; and the head of the CEIP, Alba Vázquez, explained that the objective of the programmed actions is to respond to the questions about security that are exposed by schoolchildren, teachers and families, adapting the training to the needs of each center, “attending to real situations that young people and girls live in their day to day to protect and help them.”
In this way, last year a total of 324 conferences were held in centres in the province of Lugo, 95 of which were related to the risks of new technologies and cybersecurity, which represents 29% of the total; 77 addressed the problem of bullying and cyberbullying; 68 sessions were aimed at alcohol and drug addictions; 44 talks were about gender violence; 13 activities were about racism, xenophobia and hate crimes; and another 27, aimed at road safety, forest fire prevention and job orientation. In addition, 13 police media exhibitions were held.
The Government’s deputy delegate recalled that, although it is recommended to schedule talks in the first quarter of the year, the centers can request to participate in the Master Plan at any time of the year. To date, and from the beginning of the course, 107 actions were carried out within this Plan and another 200 activities are requested.
In this regard, Isabel Rodríguez congratulated the Security Forces and Corps for the important work of information and awareness that they carry out among the school community with these activities and, at the same time, thanked the centers and families for the support of this plan “to prevent, detect and solve quickly and effectively the possible problems that may occur in the educational field.”
