The National Museum of Roman Art faces the end of the enlargement works
The National Museum of Roman Art, a state-owned museum belonging to the Ministry of Culture, located in Mérida, is already in the final phase of the enlargement works. For this reason, the museum will close the public for two weeks to finalize the performances in the area of access and reception of visitors.
The closure will take place from May 26 to June 8, immediately after the celebration of Emerita Lvdica, week in which the museum will develop an intense program of activities for all audiences. In addition, the free entry continues, which began with the reopening on March 1, and which will continue after the closure by the works in the access.
For its part, the headquarters of the museum located in the building of Santa Clara, where the Visigoda Collection is preserved, will continue to be open normally.
Better public services and technical training
The Ministry of Culture is making an investment of 8.35 million euros in the project of expansion and remodeling of the museum, with the aim of improving the public services of the center, as well as providing it with better technical training.
The performance will provide the museum with a new hall of events with capacity for 250 people, a new temporary exhibition room, didactic areas for educational workshops, a new warehouse of pieces, as well as space for researchers and technical areas. The reordering project also includes an adaptation and improvement of the box office, security and public access services.
