The Government delegate in Extremadura, José Luis Quintana, today paid a visit to the Centurión Enel Endesa solar plant, accompanied by the director of Endesa in Andalusia, Extremadura, Ceuta and Melilla, Rafael Sánchez Durán. This facility, operational since 2024, stands out for its commitment to sustainability and the measures implemented for the protection of biodiversity in the region.
"This plant is a very clear reflection of the commitment that the region has made in recent years for the development of renewable energies. Extremadura has consolidated itself as a reference, thanks to the firm commitment of the region and the commitment of companies such as Endesa. It is not just about generating energy, but about doing so in a sustainable way, respecting the environment, promoting coexistence with livestock activity and guaranteeing the protection of species," said Quintana.
During the visit, the government delegate stressed the importance of this photovoltaic plant, which has a power of 140 megawatts. "This project is a clear commitment to a more sustainable future. The inauguration of this plant represents not only a technical and economic achievement, but also a symbol of progress and environmental responsibility," said Quintana.
In a global context where climate change and dependence on fossil fuels are pressing challenges, the delegate stressed that renewable energies are more than an alternative: "They are a necessity." The Centurion solar plant will not only generate clean electricity for thousands of homes, but will also significantly reduce carbon emissions, boost the local economy and create jobs.
"These kinds of facilities are proof that the energy transition is not a threat, but an opportunity to grow in a fairer and more sustainable way," Quintana added. The government delegate expressed his gratitude for Enel Endesa’s commitment to investing in a production model based on clean energy, considering that the Centurión solar plant represents a significant step towards a more sustainable future and exemplifies Extremadura’s commitment to energy transition and environmental protection.
