The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has launched the remodelling of the sections of the N-5 and N-521 roads as they pass through the municipal area of Trujillo, in the province of Cáceres, after completing the works of reordering the accesses and improving mobility and pedestrian accessibility.
In particular, works have been carried out along more than three kilometers of two roads as they pass through the municipality: between km 0 and 1,650 of the N-521; and between km 253,445 and 254,860 of the N-5.
This action, with an investment of 2.5 million euros (VAT included), includes the construction of sidewalks, mainly in the route carried out by the N-5 through the municipality, as well as the improvement and expansion of existing ones. In addition, two roundabouts have been installed to reorganize the accesses and eliminate crossings, the road has been rehabilitated and the car parks have been reorganized in the different sections.
The intervention has been financed through the European funds Next Generation of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), within the program of humanization of crossings, to promote a more sustainable, inclusive and accessible urban environment.
With the works already completed, the section will be ceded to the City of Trujillo in accordance with Order TMA/1160/2021, of October 8, which establishes the framework for the conclusion of agreements for the delivery to the City Councils of urban roads of the state network.
