The government delegate in Extremadura, José Luis Quintana, attended today in Badajoz the events organized by APNABA on the occasion of the celebration of the World Autism Awareness Day. In his speech he highlighted the important advances experienced in Spain in terms of equality, solidarity and, above all, social conscience.
Quintana has also made reference to the last modification introduced in the Spanish Constitution where the term “physically, sensory and psychic diminished” has been changed to “person with disabilities”.
Despite the progress, the government delegate in Extremadura has urged to continue working together between administrations and associations to make a better, more inclusive and supportive society.
Since the Government of Spain, Quintana has recalled the implementation of the Spanish Strategy on Autism Spectrum Disorders (TEA), a plan that includes lines of action in care in the fields of health, culture, employment and education. To this has been added the actions being carried out to continue promoting the Law of the Dependency, and strengthening the primary care of the Autonomous Communities with State funds. “But the important thing is to change the mentality of society, to understand that we are all just as different, just as valid and just as important for society,” he said.
