The government delegate in Extremadura, Francisco Mendoza, participated this morning in Badajoz in the commemorative events of the Day of the Virgin of the Pillar, patron saint of the Civil Guard, where he referred to the work carried out by this body “example of professionalism and vocation of service and work to guarantee security and protect the free exercise of the rights and freedoms of Spaniards.”
Mendoza highlighted in his speech the importance of the incorporation of women into the Civil Guard body, regretting that this incorporation is so recent (35 years) considering that 110 years ago since the designation of the Virgen del Pilar as patron or 131 of the declaration of October 12 as a national holiday and that for 144 there have been no women in this security body.
“35 years since the Civil Guard began to take advantage of the talent and capabilities of more than half of the Spanish population, until that moment ignored, as in many professional sectors. I encourage Extremadura and Spain to take seriously the possibility of joining the Civil Guard, a very dignified public service that generates deep satisfaction to those who serve it, to those who are served and to those we know,” he said.
The delegate recalled that once again Extremadura continues to be the safest region in Spain, although he expressed his concern about the rise of cybercrime as a type of crime more widespread today.
Finally, he highlighted and congratulated all the winners on the Day of the Pillar and all the units of the Civil Guard “that make the Spanish and the people of Extremadura feel safer and especially those who live in the rural areas of Extremadura”.
