The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, through the State Mercantile Society of Agrarian Infrastructures (SEIASA), has launched the execution of the project of integral modernization and implementation of new technologies in the irrigation community of Guadiana (Badajoz), with a budget of 1,151,151,807 euros (VAT not included).
The objective of the works, which have an execution time of nine months, is the reduction of energy consumption, attenuate the pumping pressure and reduce losses in the filtrates.
To this end, the project includes the construction of a new pumping station and overhead bypass, the installation of hydrocyclonic filters, and the automation and remote control of the lift station and filter heads.
The new infrastructure will benefit 212 irrigators who cultivate 3,045 hectares in the municipalities of Montijo, Guadiana, Badajoz, Pueblo Nuevo del Guadiana and Mérida, in the province of Badajoz.
This action is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), so they have funding from the Next Generation funds of the European Union. The public contribution will be a maximum of 80% of the cost of eligible expenses, while the community of irrigators will bear the remaining 20%.
