The government delegate in Extremadura, Francisco Mendoza, has held a meeting today with representatives of the cherry sector of the Valle del Jerte and agricultural organizations to listen and collect their claims for the damages that the rain has caused in the production of this fruit during the current campaign.
Thus, Mendoza has indicated its willingness to work and transfer the necessary documentation to the General Directorate of Civil Protection of the Ministry of the Interior, once it is included in the corresponding damage assessment file.
“We listen to the sector with the best disposition, attention and affection while collecting the necessary information prior to the investigation of the file of declaration of severely affected area,” explained the delegate.
“I know that the competent department is collecting the necessary information to be able to instruct this file and if circumstances arise as soon as the documentation is collected, it will be transferred to the General Directorate of Civil Protection of the Ministry of the Interior, which is in charge.” “As soon as we have the documentation, it will be processed and we will be working on this process permanently,” he concluded.
The meeting was attended by the general secretary of UPA-UCE, Ignacio Huertas; the president of Asaja Extremadura, Ángel García Blanco; the director of AFRUEX, Miguel Ángel Gómez; the president of the Association of Cooperatives of the Valle del Jerte, José Antonio Tierno and the president of the Commonwealth, José Ramón Herrero.
