These are some data of the electoral device that is responsible for the organization of these upcoming elections and that has the participation of more than 19,000 people in Extremadura.
Municipalities, polling stations and polling stations
The electoral processes are organized through the municipalities, being distributed in districts, sections and polling stations. Extremadura has 388 municipalities, 516 districts, 963 sections. In these elections there will be a total of 1,426 polling stations located in 790 schools. Exact information on the location of polling stations and polling stations is available at local councils and the Electoral Census Office.
In addition, in these elections there will be 2,852 ballot boxes; 1,704 booths and 8,317,000 ballot papers to Congress and 1,036,000 ballot papers to the Senate and two million envelopes.
The voters of Extremadura will be able to choose between nine candidacies for Congress and eight for the Senate in these elections.
Human Media
The realization of this electoral process involves the direct mobilization of more than 19,000 people throughout Extremadura. This mobilization includes the members of the Electoral Board, the members of the polling stations, the collaborating staff of the municipalities, workers of the Government Delegation and the two subdelegations, as well as other agencies of the State Administration, including the National Institute of Statistics, or Post Office; finally, on that day, 3,034 members of the Security Forces and Corps also participate directly; both Civil Guard, National Police and Local Police, who will be responsible for ensuring the security of the entire process.
This section includes the more than 800 representatives of the Administration, who are responsible for transmitting the different information provided on that day; from the constitution of the tables, to the results of the provisional ballot, as well as the two advances of participation that are made on the day of the votes.
Accessible electoral process
One of the objectives of the Electoral Administration is to make the exercise of the right to vote accessible to all citizens. To this end, we have again collaborated with all the municipalities to make the electoral colleges fully accessible and to eliminate the architectural barriers that prevent access to people with reduced mobility.
Braille voting kits have been made available to visually impaired voters. 129 requests have been received from voters (43 in Cáceres and 86 in Badajoz) to vote with the braille voting kit, which will be prepared and sent to their respective polling stations.
The Government Delegation has also established a mechanism to transfer voters residing in population centres where there are no polling stations. In total, 74 population centres without an electoral college have been relocated to facilitate the right to vote of their electors.
Red Cross device and voter transfer
All voting centers in the region meet the requirements to facilitate access for people with reduced mobility. In addition, an Extremadura Red Cross device has been established to facilitate access to the polling place for elderly people or people with disabilities without a support network, dependents or with pathologies or temporary limitations, who can travel with medical authorization and do not have their own means to exercise their right to vote.
The Red Cross device will be composed of 145 volunteers and 51 vehicles (conventional, adapted and ambulances), which will be located in 32 locations to cover the entire territory of the Extremadura Autonomous Community.
Any citizen may request the Red Cross transport service through two telephones, which will be located in the Autonomous Coordination Center of the Red Cross Extremadura, at 112 and at number 927 222222.
Accessible vote
Since 2018, people with intellectual disability, mental illness or cognitive impairment who have been legally incapacitated have regained their vote. It should be remembered that the Government Delegation in Extremadura, in collaboration with Full Inclusion, was a pioneer throughout Spain in the implementation of this accessible signage during the electoral processes of 2019. The experience in these processes confirmed the usefulness of these posters not only for people with intellectual disability or cognitive impairment but also for all citizens, especially the elderly.
In these elections, the more than 30,000 posters distributed in the elections in May are maintained and will be installed again in all the electoral colleges in the region.
Vote by mail
If we compare the mail request data of the elections that will be held on July 23, 2023 with the elections four years ago, held on November 10, 2019, the requests have risen by 149%, 36,855 more requests.
In the elections of last May, 26,448 people requested the vote by mail, if we compare it with the elections that will be held on July 23, it represents 132.77% more people who have requested it.
