In this simulation, a person with cognitive disability has also participated as a member of an electoral table, since the last modification of the electoral law contemplates this possibility for the sake of the equality of all citizens. Full Inclusion Extremadura has prepared an easy reading guide for those people with some kind of disability who are elected members of the polling stations. Today’s simulation has served to experience this possibility and advance in the integration of this collective.
The Government Delegate in Extremadura, Francisco Mendoza stressed that “it is a moral obligation of society to make equality a reality for all and we are very pleased to contribute to the equality of all people, whatever their personal conditions.” Mendoza has also shared the illusion that the participants in the simulation have transmitted to him and has pointed out that “it is impressive the illusion of these people to participate in the democratic act par excellence, as is the vote. Sometimes we forget how important it is to participate in the election of our representatives and people who until recently did not have that right to remind us of the importance of this act must come. So I take this opportunity to invite all citizens to participate freely in the elections next Sunday; to vote for whoever they consider, but to participate.”
