The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, together with the mayor of Sinarcas, Maria José Clemente, has inaugurated the energy and functional rehabilitation of the Medical Clinic, Home of the Retired and Social Center, financed by the Program of Promotion to the Rehabilitation of Public Buildings to the Local Entities of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda. The overall budget of the works has amounted to more than 825,000 euros, of which the Government of Spain has financed about 650,000 and the rest, the consistorio.La delegate of the Government has indicated that with this intervention covering the entire building “its use has been reactivated, the spaces for the home of the retiree have been renovated and new ones have been created for the youth on the last floor”. Thanks to these actions “intergenerational coexistence will be favored through workshops, courses and recreational activities”.
The works - the delegate recalled - have prioritized energy improvement through thermal insulation, hermeticity and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery.” It is planned, as he said, that “they represent an energy saving of about 99%”.
Detail of the proceedings
The intervention in the building has covered various actions to improve energy efficiency, sustainability, accessibility, habitability, safety and conservation.
In terms of improving energy efficiency, the thermal envelope has been acted on by improving facades, roofs, exterior carpentry and glass, optimizing insulation. In addition, the thermal installations with air conditioning systems, ACS production and ventilation in toilets have been updated. Photovoltaic and efficient lighting systems have also been incorporated to reduce energy consumption.
Actions for sustainability have included water saving systems, improvement of water evacuation and bioclimatic strategies such as lattices and adaptation of terraces. Charging points for electric vehicles and bicycle parking have also been installed.
In terms of accessibility, the equipment and facilities to remove architectural barriers have been improved.
The habitability and safety actions have included improvements in partitions, pavements, ceilings, wall coverings and fire fighting systems. And as for the conservation actions, they have included the maintenance of facilities and structural reinforcement.
